In addition to her Bible studies, Moore has written poetry and about topics such as motherhood, insecurity, how to pray God's Word, and finding freedom from oppressive situations.įour fundamental themes are threaded throughout Moore's various writing genres: biblicism, spiritual warfare, mysticism, and, more recently, popular psychology. Since then, Moore has become a prolific writer, composing more than 20 best-selling books and Bible studies ranging from profiles of heroic biblical figures to topical studies such as Breaking Free, Believing God, Living Beyond Yourself, and When Godly People Do Ungodly Things. Aerobics was eventually dropped, and women began asking her for homework "like all the other classes have." In response to their request, Moore wrote what would later become her first published Bible study, A Woman's Heart, God's Dwelling Place, which focuses on the construction of the Old Testament tabernacle. In 1984, Moore began teaching an aerobics and Bible study class for women. Her enthusiasm for God's Word convinced me that the seemingly stiff, impenetrable book had legs-that its insights could actually make a difference in my everyday life. Moore's study had me searching the Scriptures at least five times a week. When I completed a Beth Moore Bible study at age 21, I was no more than two months into my new faith, a former atheist with a long history of living however I pleased. Sound impossible? It is without Christ.I wasn't far along in my Christian journey when I first came across the works of Beth Moore. Life will not ever be the same, but I have the invitation from Christ to rise to a new life-a more compassionate life, a wiser life, a more productive life. When our hearts are hemorrhaging with grief and loss, never forget that Christ binds and compresses it with a nail-scarred hand. We’re being conformed to the image of Christ. That’s why we must learn to survive and once again thrive when change involves heartbreaking loss. A life indeed absent of something or something dear but filled with the presence of the Resurrection and the Life. And not just living but living abundantly and effectively- raised from a living death to a new life. Perhaps the most profound miracle of all is living through something we thought would kill us. God become the only explanation for our emotional survival and revival. It is a power that displays the life of Christ in us like no other because it defies all odds. That power is the power to live again on this earth when we’d really rather die. When our hearts have been shattered by loss, we have an opportunity to welcome a supernatural power to our lives. Nothing is more natural than grief after a devastating loss, but those of us in Christ can experience satisfying life again. Our Savior is the God of resurrection life, no matter what kind of death has occurred in the life of any believer! Joy and effectiveness may seem to pause for a while as grief takes its course, but those who allow their broken hearts to be bound by Christ will experience them again. “Thank goodness, the loss of something or someone dear never has to mean the end of abundance, effective, or even joyful life for any Christian. I rewrote a summary of the highlights of what Beth Moore put in this chapter as I found it very comforting. God has been speaking to me through different verses that people have either written to me, texted to me or emailed to me and in this case God nudged me to join a bible study for this particular chapter. And my first week in the study the fifth day of the study was called “Hearts Broken by Loss” coincidence? I think not. I jumped into a bible study that was midway through a Beth Moore Study Breaking Free.
